Plunge Pools Florida

Florida is the pool state. Year-round outdoor living, a backyard culture built around the water, and a property market where a pool isn't a luxury — it's a baseline. But Florida brings its own demands. Hurricane season, humidity, sun exposure, and tight lot sizes in the fastest-growing metros. A Plungie prefabricated concrete plunge pool is engineered for all of it, and installs over 74% faster than a traditional pool build.

Why Florida Homeowners Are Choosing Plunge Pools

Florida is the fastest-growing state in the country, and the squeeze on lot sizes shows it. New construction across Central Florida, the Tampa Bay corridor, South Florida, and the Jacksonville metro has steadily reduced backyard footprints. Median lot sizes for new single-family homes have shrunk roughly 18% over the last decade (National Association of Realtors). The traditional pool design doesn't always fit the modern Florida lot. A Plungie does.

And the value is real. A pool can add up to 8% to a home's value(National Association of Realtors). 'Swimming pool' is one of the most-searched property features on realtor.com. In Florida, where buyers expect a pool, not having one is a real disadvantage.

In-Ground, Semi-Recessed, or Above-Ground. Whatever Your Lot Demands

Florida properties run from coastal townhomes in Fort Lauderdale, to suburban single-families across Central Florida, to waterfront estates on the Gulf and lakefront homes in Winter Park. Plungie installs across all of them. Whatever the vision, it's possible.

In-Ground

The classic install. Your Plungie sits fully recessed with clean lines, seamless surrounds, and no visual bulk. Ideal for flat suburban and waterfront lots across Tampa, Orlando, Naples, Cape Coral, and the planned communities of Lakewood Ranch, Wellen Park, and Babcock Ranch.

Semi-Recessed

Florida is famously flat, but coastal and lakefront properties often have gentle elevation changes or seawall transitions. Semi-recessed installation accommodates those changes elegantly. Plungie shells are engineered to retain earth, which is useful where grading or coastal setback rules apply.

Above-Ground

Tight infill lots in South Florida, screen-room conversions, and properties where excavation is limited (or where the water table sits high) find the perfect answer in above-ground installation. The smooth concrete exterior can be left exposed or finished to suit the architecture.

Prefabricated Concrete. Not Fiberglass, Not Custom Poured

Most Florida pool conversations come down to fiberglass versus gunite. Plungie sits beyond both.

Custom gunite pools are premium but slow. Expect 52+ days on site, multiple trades, and serious disruption to your property. Fiberglass arrives quickly but in predetermined shapes — limited form and lower structural performance.

Plungie is prefabricated concrete. Manufactured offsite in a controlled environment, then crane-installed as a complete unit. The strength and permanence of concrete with an installation timeline a custom build can't match. Made in Alvarado, Texas, and backed by a 10-year warranty on structure and finishes. This is the largest monolithic swimming pool with a patented design.

74% Faster With a Fraction of the On-Site Disruption

Installing a Plungie is over 74% faster than a traditional pool builder. That's 14 days on site versus 52.

For Florida properties, that timeline matters. With hurricane season running June through November, an open excavation sitting for two months isn't just inconvenient — it's risky. A Plungie install can be planned and completed inside the typical dry-season window, leaving your property secure and ready before storms arrive. The Plungie shell is manufactured while your site is being prepared. Parallel timelines, not sequential.

Built for the Florida Climate

Florida is a year-round pool market. Outside of January and February, the water is comfortably swimmable across most of the state without any heating. A pool heater extends that to true year-round use, particularly in North Florida and the Panhandle.

More relevant for most Florida homeowners is a pool chiller. Summer water temperatures regularly push past 90°F in South and Central Florida, and a chiller is increasingly popular for keeping the pool genuinely refreshing through July, August, and September.

Plungie's monolithic concrete construction is also built for the realities of the Florida climate. Hurricane-force winds, debris impact, and the constant humidity that breaks down lesser materials. The shell is engineered for permanence and backed by a 10-year structural warranty.

A 61% Lower Carbon Footprint

Plungie's carbon footprint is 61% lower than a traditional concrete pool, independently verified by an ISO-certified lifecycle assessment from Pangolin Associates. Offsite manufacturing reduces on-site waste, vehicle movements, and embedded carbon. Made in Texas. For Florida residents who value the natural environment that defines the state, Plungie is the more responsible choice.

Building Permits in Florida

Pool installations in Florida are regulated under the Florida Building Code and the Residential Swimming Pool Safety Act. Permits are issued by the local building department in each county or municipality — Miami-Dade, Broward, Hillsborough, Orange, Duval, and so on. Each has its own submission process and review timelines.

Florida pool barrier requirements are specific. At least one of the four following safety features is required: an enclosure (the popular screen cage), a power safety cover, an alarm on every door and window with direct access to the pool, or self-closing/self-latching mechanisms on those doors. Most Florida pool installations include a screen enclosure as standard. Plungie provides preliminary engineering drawings as part of the purchase process, ready to submit with your permit application.

  3. Site preparation. Excavate the site, mark plumbing provisions.
  4. Crane day. Schedule crane access, confirm delivery date with Plungie.
  5. Electrical and backfill. Engage your electrician, backfill around the pool.
